Matt is the PGA First Assistant Golf Professional at Duke University Golf Club.
Matt is from Los Altos, California. While on the west coast, Matt played NCAA Division II golf at Colorado School of Mines before transferring to University of California-Davis. In 2013, Matt graduated from UC-Davis with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Matt discovered his passion for teaching the game of golf while serving as a teaching assistant for the university golf class under the direction of men’s head golf coach, Cy Williams.
Since becoming an Assistant Golf Professional at Duke University Golf Club in 2013, Matt’s passion for teaching the game of golf has been welcomed and encouraged. Under the guidance of Ed Ibarguen (Ranked Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher) and John Kolls (Ranked Golf Digest 7th Best Teacher in the State of North Carolina) Matt works to become the best teacher he can be and can often be spotted on the lesson tee honing his craft.
Away from the golf course Matt enjoys spending time with his wife Alisa and Golden Retriever Ryleigh. Matt also has a passion for fitness, most days either before or after his shift at the golf course you will find him at his Crossfit box doing the Workout of the Day (W.O.D.). Matt has visions of integrating fitness into his golf teaching weather it be a stretch or a weighted exercise he wants to learn as much as possible in order to positively influence his golf students.
